To pause the Task Scheduler service

1. Open Task Scheduler.

2. On the Advanced menu, click Pause Task Scheduler.

Notes

• To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators or Server Operators group, or have been delegated the appropriate authority, on the local computer. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

• The Pause Task Scheduler command is useful if you do not want scheduled tasks to run at the same time you are installing software or running another program (such as a game).
• To resume the schedules for all tasks, on the Advanced menu, click Continue Task Scheduler. Once the service is restarted, tasks will run at their previously scheduled times.
